Building Europe's National Anti-Scam Centres | Global Anti-Scam Summit London 2025

Date of Event: 26–27 March 2025
Event: Global Anti-Scam Summit London 2025
This session highlighted practical strategies and systemic insights to advance Europe’s fight against scams. The opening keynote by Gary Miles of the UK’s National Fraud Intelligence Bureau gave a candid look at lessons from Action Fraud. He stressed the need for long-term funding, clear brand strategy, accurate threat measurement, and a shift from prosecution-centric models to holistic prevention.
Following this, the first panel chaired by Alex West of PwC made the business case for national anti-scam centres. Speakers from Cifas, the European Commission, Euroconsumers, and Stop Scams UK discussed how these centres can streamline reporting, integrate data, and support victim care. Key themes included building trust through public-private collaboration and embedding innovation into national frameworks.
A second panel brought global perspectives. Jayde Richmond shared Australia’s anti-scam centre model, driven by virtual collaboration and integrated data sharing. Across the board, panellists agreed that anti-scam centres must be more than physical locations—they must function as dynamic, interoperable systems that connect stakeholders and empower action.
