The International Banking Federation Joins The Global Anti-Scam Alliance as Foundation Member – Representing 18,000 Banks in the Fight Against Online Scams

The Hague, The Netherlands – The Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) is proud to announce that the International Banking Federation (IBFed) has joined as a Foundation Member, marking a historic milestone in the global fight to protect consumers from online scams.
Representing over 18,000 banks worldwide, IBFed’s membership brings an unprecedented level of financial sector engagement to GASA’s mission.
Founded to protect consumers worldwide from scams, GASA raises awareness, develops tools for consumers and law enforcement, facilitates intelligence sharing, organizes research, supports policy best practices, and provides training and education. IBFed’s decision to join aligns with its own recognition that scams pose a growing threat to the banking system and that combating fraud requires shared responsibility and coordinated action across all sectors, and across borders.
"Fraud is a significant concern for our Board," said Anthony Ostler , President of IBFed. "Joining GASA as a Foundation Member is a strategic step to ensure the voice of the global banking community is included in shaping collaborative, effective solutions. Together, we can work towards an ecosystem approach that ensures responsibility, accountability, and liability are appropriately shared across the fraud chain, delivering meaningful protection for our customers."
GASA’s Managing Director, Jorij Abraham , welcomes IBFed’s decision, saying: "The scale of this partnership cannot be overstated. For the first time, the collective voice of 18,000 banks will be directly engaged in the global fight against scams. This means faster intelligence sharing, more coordinated disruption of scam networks, and greater pressure on every sector to step up. Together, we are building a truly global shield to protect consumers."
As Foundation Member, IBFed will be a strategic partner and contribute to GASA’s intelligence-sharing initiatives, participate in its Advisory Board, and collaborate in research and other venues for information sharing. The partnership also opens new opportunities for coordinated action between banks, governments, law enforcement, and other key sectors to dismantle scam networks and prevent consumer harm.
With IBFed’s global representation across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia, this partnership reinforces GASA’s role as the leading platform uniting diverse sectors against one of the fastest-growing forms of criminal activity worldwide.
