This study of 1,200 Japanese adults shows that scam exposure remains significant, with 22% of participants encountering a scam in the past year. While 57% say they are confident in recognizing scams, 53% of those exposed interacted with a scammer. Ultimately, 1% experienced financial or data loss, while 18% of those scammed reported the incident to the police. Among victims, 55% reported an impact on their mental wellbeing.
