BanCoppel joins the Global Anti-Scam Alliance to bolster fraud prevention and safeguard individuals entering the banking system.

BanCoppel has joined the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) as a Corporate Member of the GASA Mexico Chapter, adding one of the country's largest retail banking networks to a growing coalition of institutions working to protect consumers from scams, fraud, and online Deception.
Scams in Mexico have shifted from unauthorized payments to social engineering, where the customer is persuaded to move the money themselves. That shift places the burden of defense on the moment of the phone call, not on the transaction rail, and it falls hardest on people whose relationship with formal banking is recent. BanCoppel's membership brings that segment directly into the chapter's work, alongside its experience in customer education, tailored service, fraud prevention, inclusive banking, and reimbursement models designed to keep a single deception from becoming a permanent loss.
"Modern fraud operates as a borderless global ecosystem, and our response must be equally expansive. BanCoppel is joining the Global Anti-Scam Alliance because the true disruption of financial crime is not achieved by building higher individual walls within our organizations, but by forging a collective intelligence network that operates with greater
agility, collaboration, and force than our attackers — all to strengthen the protection and trust we provide to our BanCoppel customers," said Erika Mata, Chief Information Security Officer, BanCoppel, and Head of Fraud Prevention, Grupo Coppel.
Through the Mexico Chapter, BanCoppel joins financial institutions, telecommunications operators, technology providers, government agencies, and international organizations working on information exchange between sectors, faster tracing of funds, coordinated awareness campaigns, and a shared national approach to digital fraud.
"We celebrate a commitment that places prevention before the incident. The people most exposed to fraud are often those who entered formal finance most recently, where a single deception can undo years of saving. Deciding to protect them together with the rest of the sector is the kind of choice that gives this chapter its purpose, " said Sissi de la Peña, Director of the GASA Mexico Chapter.
In the months ahead, BanCoppel and GASA Mexico will work alongside the broader chapternetwork on initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention, improving the speed of response, and expanding consumer protection across the Mexican financial ecosystem.
