Global Anti-Scam Alliance Welcomes Mastercard as Founding Member of Its Mexico Chapter

The Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) announces the membership of Mastercard as a Member of its Mexico Chapter. With this membership, one of the world's leading payments technology companies joins the coalition of institutions working in Mexico to protect consumers from online scams and fraud.

Trust is the condition that holds the digital ecosystem together. Every payment, every transfer and every online transaction rests on it, and preserving it has become a shared commitment among financial institutions, merchants, technology platforms and authorities.

That commitment gives shape to an industry-wide movement: pooling capabilities across sectors to anticipate risk and respond in a coordinated way. Mastercard brings to that effort the experience of operating payments infrastructure across more than 200 countries and territories, and decades of work in security, authentication and fraud prevention.

In an environment of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats and fraud, joining GASA Mexico is part of a necessary industry movement to strengthen security, resilience and that trust across the digital ecosystem," said Alejandra Lara, Vice President of Security Solutions for North LAC at Mastercard.

The Mexico Chapter works on that premise: creating the conditions for fraud intelligence to circulate across sectors, and for the cybersecurity and fraud prevention agendas to advance together.

"At Mastercard we know that protecting the digital world cannot be done alone. Crossing intelligence between institutions, merchants and authorities strengthens cybersecurity and fraud prevention by anticipating risk and responding in a better-coordinated way across actors," Lara added.

In July 2026, Mastercard hosted the Mexico Chapter's second roundtable, which convened 35 representatives from banking, telecommunications, digital platforms, technology providers, government, academia and international organisations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

"Our mission is to awaken stakeholders to a fundamental truth: cybersecurity and anti-fraud agendas must advance together. Through integrated multisector leadership, we build the shared capacity to protect citizens from digital deception," said Sissi de la Peña, Director of the GASA Mexico Chapter.

In the months ahead, Mastercard and GASA Mexico will work alongside the wider chapter network on initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention, improving coordination among actors, and expanding consumer protection across Mexico's digital ecosystem.
