This study of 2,550 German adults shows that scam exposure continues to rise, with 66% of participants encountering a scam in the past year. While 57% say they are confident in recognizing scams, 26% still interacted with a scammer (44% of those exposed). Ultimately, 7% experienced financial or data loss, with only 3% reporting the incident to authorities. Among victims, the impact extends beyond financial harm, with 70% reporting effects on their mental wellbeing, and more than half (56%) experiencing repeat scams.
