Launch of GASA Brazil

Please note: the content of this meet-up will be delivered majorily in Brazilian Portuguese.

We would like to invite you to the launch of the GASA Brazil Chapter at a virtual meet-up on the 19th of March from 10:00 – 12:00 (Sao Paulo time). The goal of the Meet-Up is to bring together all Brazilian stakeholders for the first time to discuss the scope of online fraud in Brazil and discuss which steps we can take together to turn the tide on scams.

Online scams are now the most reported type of crime. Most countries now state that between 20 to 50% of all crimes reported are related to online fraud. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as only 7% of all scam victims report the crime to law enforcement. With more than 1 trillion lost last year, affecting 1-in-4 individuals worldwide, fast action is required.

The Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) mission is to protect consumers worldwide against scams. We realize our mission by bringing together governments, law enforcement, consumer protection organizations, financial authorities and telecom providers, social media, Internet service providers and cybersecurity companies to exchange intelligence, network, share data, and define joint actions to protect consumers globally better from scams.

In Brazil, the amount of money lost in online fraud last year hast been estimated to be 320 billion Reals or 3,2% or the Brazilian GDP. In line with GASA’s mission, we are launching the GASA Brazil Chapter.
