Global Anti-Scam Summit EUROPE 2024

Online scams are the most reported type of crime. Most countries now state that between 20 to 50% of all crimes reported are related to online fraud. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as only 7% of all scam victims report the crime to law enforcement. With nearly $1.026 trillion lost last year (in the 12 months prior to October 2023), affecting 1-in-4 individuals worldwide, fast action is required.

On October 18–19, 2023, the 4th Global Anti-Scam Summit (GASS) took place. The goal of the GASS was to bring governments, consumer & financial authorities, law enforcement, brand protection agencies, and (cybersecurity) companies together to share knowledge and define joint actions to protect consumers from getting scammed.

The event had more than 1,100 virtual guests and 250 physical participants from 70+ countries. This year the event will be organized hybrid again. The event focused on further defining the 10 Recommendations to Turn the Tide on Scams outlined at last year's event.

In 2024, there will be three GASS events, with editions spanning three continents. America and Asia will each host their own GASS event for the first time in our history, with the European GASS entering its 5th year. The GASS Europe event will be organized in a hybrid style, with delegates attending both in-person and online. 

The event will combine presentations, lectures, and workshops. While subject to change, GASA's current intention is to hold separate sessions focused on the following subjects:
