About the event

Globally, over USD $1 trillion was lost to scams last year, impacting 1 in 4 individuals. Alarmingly, only 7% of victims report these crimes. This underscores the urgent need for swift, collective action.

The event, co-hosted by the South African Fraud Prevention Service (SAFPS), has as goal to unite African stakeholders to combat cyber fraud and scams. We will discuss forming the GASA Africa Chapter to align with global anti-scam efforts.

The draft agenda is as follows:

  • Welcome & Introductions - Nazia Karrim, Chairperson / HO   Product Development SAFPS

  • The State of Global Scams - Jorij Abraham: Managing Director, Global Anti Scam Alliance

  • Panel discussion: Scams in Africa - Impact to the economy & community
